About Petrida
Petrida exists because vet bills surprise people. A torn ACL on a Labrador runs $3,000 to $6,000. A blocked bladder in a cat can hit $5,000 in a weekend. Most owners find out what their options were after the bill arrives, not before.
We write plain-English guides on pet insurance, real-world vet costs, and pet health budgeting so you can make those decisions ahead of time, with actual numbers in front of you.
How we make money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy a policy, the insurer pays us a commission. It costs you nothing extra. We also run display advertising.
Commissions do not decide our rankings. We compare plans on coverage, exclusions, waiting periods, reimbursement rates, and price. When a plan we earn nothing from is the better fit, we say so. Our full policy is on the affiliate disclosure page.
What we cover
- Pet insurance. Plan comparisons, what coverage actually includes, fine-print exclusions, and claim realities.
- Vet costs. Real price ranges for common procedures, emergencies, and routine care.
- Pet health budgeting. When insurance makes sense, when a savings account beats it, and how to lower bills without skipping care.
What we are not
- We are not veterinarians. Nothing here is veterinary advice. If your pet is sick, call your vet.
- We are not an insurance company or a licensed broker. We summarize publicly available plan information so you can compare faster.
- We do not accept payment for positive coverage.
